Welcome to Lindos
Lindos is a historic Greek village on the island of Rhodes, which dates back to 300BC. The village today still holds its traditional style and aesthetic, but is a lively place with beautiful beaches, incredible restaurants and nightlife for all tastes. As a family, we have been coming to Lindos for 46 years and have a deep love for the village and its friendly people who are always so warm and welcoming. We take great pleasure in sharing it with those who want to have a truly unique and authentic Greek experience.
Villa Susana
Welcome to Villa Susana, a traditional Lindos house, built in Ottoman times, dating back to 1909 or even earlier. Built of local stone, directly onto solid rock and whitewashed, the house is built around a courtyard and sits below the famous Acropolis.
The Sala
Double doors lead off the courtyard to the main sala, a large living area with double-height ceiling and traditional bangha (raised wooden platform) with low seating and original wooden glass-fronted cupboard. There are chairs and a long cushioned bench, as well as Smart satellite TV and a small desk.
The Main Bedroom
Opening into the sala, as well as onto the courtyard, the main bedroom offers a spacious Duxiana bed built onto the traditional bhanga with two windows to the front. The bedroom has a built-in wardrobe. The bathroom is accessed via the courtyard which has plenty of lighting. The windows overlook the beautiful little chapel of St. George, a 13th century church.
The Second Bedroom
The second bedroom also opens onto the courtyard, as well as having its own front entrance door from the steps leading from the street. The bed is a traditional Greek wooden bhanga and can be arranged as a super kingsize bed or the mattresses can be separated to form two single beds. Wooden stairs lead down to the en-suite below, with a built-in wardrobe. The windows overlook the Churchyard and views of the harbour.
The Courtyard
Here there is a large table and chairs, as well as a cushioned stone bench and sail for shade, ideal for meals outside.
The Hoklaki
The courtyard, Sala and main bedroom have beautiful traditional ‘hoklaki’ floors, made of small black, grey and white pebbles with a border design. The design in the courtyard is the inspiration for our Villa Susana logo, which is one of our favourite dishes, created especially for us by Mavrikos restaurant: Barbounia (red mullet) with spicy rice and fresh chilli!
The Kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped with Nespresso machine, other appliances, cooking equipment and crockery. Whilst you cook, you can enjoy views over looking the courtyard and the beautiful beach below.
The Bathrooms
In traditional Lindian style, the main bathroom of the house is situated just off the courtyard. There is also a second bathroom en-suite below the second bedroom.
The Lower Roof Terrace
From the courtyard, stone hoklaki steps lead up to the lower roof terrace which has tables and chairs, also lovely for eating dinner at night or breakfast, or for sitting with a coffee and listening to the village going by below, with the rhythmic sound of donkeys’ hooves, passing by on their way to the Acropolis above.
The Top Roof Terrace
From here, another stone staircase leads up to the top roof terrace which has wonderful views of the harbour and bay below and the Acropolis above. This is the perfect spot for relaxing with a coffee early in the morning.
Sundowners
As day turns to night, the sky turns the distant rocks to a beautiful pinky hue and as dusk falls, the Acropolis is lit up and the music from village bars drifts up towards you. Then the sky fills with stars and you can’t imagine a more chilled spot to enjoy a drink before dinner.
Villa Susana is situated towards the edge of the village, where you will find views of the beaches and the Acropolis at every turn. The house has steps up to the main entrance which opens onto a totally unexpected view of the plant-filled courtyard, smelling of jasmine or geranium and filled with different coloured bougainvillea and olive, lemon and kumquat trees in large terracotta qupis (huge pots which were used to store olive oil and other things in olden times).
What our lovely guests have had to say…
“I have been visiting Lindos and Villa Susana every summer for the last 10 years, it truly holds a special place in my heart. I am always drawn to the variety of things to do and places to visit on Rhodes, but Lindos itself is just so magical - it keeps you coming back again and again.”

“Lindos is such a wonderful little slice of paradise. I’ve been lucky enough to stay at Villa Susana a number of times and love nothing more than to be on the roof terrace at sunset, Gin&Tonic in hand, watching the rose-tinted sky at sunset casting a warm glow on the rocks and the sea. There is so much to see on the island, which always makes every visit feel very unique and special.”

“On my first visit to the island of Rhodes it was so lovely to be able to experience the beautiful village of Lindos from the delightful Villa Susana. The villa is incredibly comfortable and well-appointed while retaining all of its traditional charm. The owners have made clever use of the different levels, with various areas for reading and relaxing, surrounded by amazing views, or enjoying al fresco lunch or pre-dinner drinks before the short walk into the village centre to visit one of the numerous fabulous restaurants. It was also very easy to work there and the internet access meant I was able to run video calls with ease - quite a stunning backdrop too! Looking forward to my next visit!.”
